skydiving

skydiving

Where do I even begin? Skydiving has always been on my bucket list. Ever since I turned 18 it has been in the back of my mind, I just didnt know when I was finally going to get around to it. Finally, on June 18, 2014, my dream came true.

We started out watching these movies telling us all of the possible out comes and basically scaring the poop out of us, then we went directly to sign our lives away. The whole time I was signing waiver after waiver all i could think about is my mom would kill me if she knew I was going to do this.

Then we had to wait for over an hour. The suspense was unreal! Also we had nothing to entertain us so we just jammed, made up random games and made friends with all the workers because ALL of the other skydivers were Asian. Not an exaggeration, we were the only Americans there except for the workers.

Finally, our skydiving "instructors" came out and called our names. Jessica got the sketchiest looking dude in the whole world. Some old guy with a mohawk, tats everywhere, and rotting teeth. My guy was unbelievably shy and would not give me eye contact which was freaking me out. I kept asking him if he was scared and he would just calmly look at the ground and say no. He told me we were going to jump out and do flips for a little and then he would tap me when he decided to just free fall straight. I honestly could not tell if he was kidding.

Before I knew it we were walking out to the sketchy little plane and boarding it to our possible death and I was not scared at all! What the heck is wrong with me? I was hoping I would get more scared and maybe I was scared deep down but I was more calm boarding that plane than I am to speak in front of a group of people and anyone who knows me knows that is no big deal for me.

As we took off I could not get over the incredible views of the island. It was honestly one of the prettiest views I have ever seen. Rachel and I were talking to our "instructors" and they were just messing around trying to freak us out and thought they were hilarious.

All of the sudden they open the door and the first jumper jumped, within 10 seconds all 8 jumpers were out of the plane. It honestly happened so quick. My instructor dude pushed me forward turned us around and counted to two and BOOM we jumped out of the plane backwards!!!

The world was spinning all around me and it was one of the coolest moments of my whole life!  It really is indescribable how unreal it is to be falling like that and be weightless. It was AMAZING!!!

After he pulled the shoot we soared around the clouds, over the ocean and over the island for like 10 minutes. No lie we were up there forever, I would know because my legs were 100% asleep when we landed!

BEST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!!!!

I will remember this day forever!!

if you have not gone skydiving yet. . . go now!

everyday is an adventure

Okay so now that I am here I am quickly realizing it will be impossible to talk a out every single amazing thing we get to experience so I will just try to talk about highlights so you can get a little taste of this paradise that we are actually living!

Everywhere you go is constant adventure to be had. We have yet to have a day where we had it all planned out because honestly we just go with the flow and take the day as it comes. We have met SO many fun exciting people that are so nice to take us under their wing and show us the ins and out of this beautiful island. We have made some amazing friends and if we were being honest if it werent for these friends we would not have been able to do a tenth of the incredible things we have done.

The day our roommate took us surfing!

Although we look very light hearted and happy in this picture this day was such an adventure getting to the other side of the island, it took us over 5 hours and all of us were going to blow up until we finally got to the beach and it was perfect

our first day on THE BUS which SUCKED

our first day on da island

We woke up to the sounds of the ocean in our very own back yard and might I add it was 6 am. We were not adjusted to the time change AT ALL but it was fun because it made it so we could fit so much more into our day! So we thought we should start with a grocery run down the street to the local Food Land.  So everyone warned me before I cam how expensive food was here. Well I am here to confirm this notion. Food is VERY expnesive!

We also went across the street to the other side of the point wh
ere there is this perfect beach, called bikini beach! We kind of just explored around and hung out and tried to take in our new home and its unreal beauty!

please feel free to LOL at this EXTREMELY artsy picture

For dinner we tried this restaurant recommened to us by our friend Andrew Menlove who knows the family that owns it very well, 7 Brothers. It was SO declicious! I think its safe to say that it has become our new hang out becuase we go mulitple times a week even sometimes multiple times a day and stay there for hours. No lie it has the chillest vibes and the best diet coke on tap. We decided we probably down more than a gallon of DC while we are there. whoops!

off to the land of aloha

For years and years I have dreamed of moving to Hawaii and in the fall of 2013 I made my mind up. I was going to make my dream a reality and I started looking into making this dream come true. It took many hours of searching, calling, checking, and researching all over again but on June 9, 2014 I left for Hawaii. So many may ask, why are you going, what are you going to do while you are there, and do you even have a plan? And I would say, I am going because this has been on my list of things I wanted to do ever since I was little, and while I am in Hawaii I am going to live it up and make a huge dent in my bucket list. If you know me even a little you know that I am a work-a-holic and I almost never make any time for myself. So this is my time for Calee. I am going to go to the beach, I am going to go on adventures and explore Hawaii. And most importantly I have always wanted to do hair on the beach so I am going to do it! And do I have a plan. .  .  ABSOLUTELY NOT, but I am stoked out of my mind and if you wish to hear about my adventures you can check this blog out from time to time to see what I am up to!

Our first day was mostly spent traveling and when we arrived on the island began our first real adventure. We had absolutely no idea who was picking us up, we had a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend who said they would come pick us up from the airport and so we said YES PLEASE. As we waited the more nervous we got that either A) they would be creepy and scary or B) the more likely of the two, they had a tiny car that would not fit us and all of our luggage. Then out of no where this darling kid walks up and introduces himself to us and informed us he was the one taking us back to Laie. Turns out these boys live two houses away from us and are the nicest, funnest, boys on the entire island (and there care was big enough)!

We got to our place which is an absolute dump, but with one of the best views in the entire world so we had no complaints whatsoever, except for the roaches the size of our palms, those we were complaining about big time!

I can't believe I am actually here and this is actually happening!

Let the adventures begin
